Excerpt from Numismata Londinensia: Medals Struck by the Corporation of London to Commemorate Important Municipal Events 1831 to 1893
It will be evident at a glance that this medallic record by no means completely represents the chief landmarks of municipal progress. Notable instances Of omission are the magnificent series Of public' markets, the new Guildhall Library and Museum, and the Guildhall School of Music. Although they do not form, however, a complete series, these medals are strikingly representative of the public works successfully accomplished by the Corporation for the citizens Of London and the population at large, during more than half-a-century.
